Pinckney Recreation Area

Pinckney Recreation Area’s equestrian trails, located southwest of Pinckney, include 13 miles of looped trails (moderately hilly and not too rocky) that traverse captivating marsh and wooded areas. Several trails traverse glacial ridges along the north side of Monks Road offering breathtaking views. The intersections are numbered. Amenities include a vault toilet, a hand-pump water source, pavilion, mounting block, picket posts, large grill and picnic tables. Along the northern edge of the trail system, riders can connect to the linear Lakelands Trail State Park allowing riders to extend their ride into Pinckney, Gregory, Stockbridge and just outside of the Jackson communities. There is also a connection to the Brighton Recreation Area with the Lakelands trail and some road riding. Along the southern edge of the park, you can ride through a gorgeous white and red pine forest to the town of Hell, Michigan (a short walk on a busy road is necessary) for ice cream, a good meal and a cold beverage. A mounting block is set just within the trail for riders to dismount at the road and re-mount when returning to the trail. There is also a mounting block in Hell. There is private camping and horse stabling in stalls at Hell Creek Equestrian Center.
