Pontiac Lake Recreation Area

The Pontiac Lake Equestrian trail is a gorgeous 17-mile system of trails located in White Lake, Michigan. You will wind and climb your way through a wide variety of terrain including old farm fields, heavy forests, marshes and lakes within the recreation area and all while on horseback! The two tunnels on the trail system allow for safe passage under roads and access to the trails on the west side of the park which ultimately connect to Indian Springs Metropark for an extra 2.5 miles of riding. Sections of the trail are rocky and at times, moderately challenging with some big hills.

A seasonal staging area is located inside the rustic horseman’s campground and another day staging area, which is open all year, is located on Teggerdine Rd between White Lake Rd and Pontiac Lake Rd. The Pontiac Lake equestrian trails are a cherished Southeast Michigan destination for day riding and camping.

The campground has picket poles, fire rings, open sites, water hand pump, vault toilet and pavilion with picnic tables. Reservations are available for camping here and camping is for those who are camping with horses.

The hard-working members of Pontiac Lake Horseman Association advocate and care for the trails. They have two camping events where you can join them to support their efforts, the Summer Fun weekend in June and the Tour the Trails in September.
