Scheck’s Place Trail Camp

Scheck’s Place Trail Camp is one of the camps along Michigan’s Shore-to-Shore trail, a horseback riding and hiking trail created 60+ years ago by Michigan Trail Riders Association which travels across the state in Northern Lower Michigan from Lake Huron (Oscoda) to Lake Michigan (Empire) and has northern (to Mackinaw City) and southern (to Cadillac) spurs. Michigan’s trail riders owe a huge debt of gratitude to the pioneers of MTRA and those who have continued to care for, advocate, maintain and improve the trail and its campgrounds all of these years later. The shore-to-shore ride is a wonderful and incredibly unique experience, and riders come from across our nation and the world to ride with MTRA across the state of Michigan.

Enjoy a spacious and open group campground with easy access. With a 200-person capacity, a 5,000-watt generator is required for the submersible pump. The campground is 12 miles southwest of Williamsburg via Williamsburg, Supply and Brown Bridge roads.

This campground offers direct access to Boardman River for horses and riders alike. It’s a great place to cool off on a hot summer day. Scheck’s camp is flush with circle riding opportunities. The circle riding around camp is on sandy state forest roads (open to ORV) or the Shore-to-Shore trail. Dollar Lake is about a three hour circle ride from camp. You will find old grave sites just off the Shore-to-Shore trail in either direction. Or take a 4 hour round trip ride to Mayfield store, where you’ll find hitching rails and ice cream. Scheck’s Place is a favorite destination camp along the Shore-to-Shore trail. It’s also close to Ranch Rudolf and is a great area for hiking, river fun, ORV and more.

Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations.
