Silver Creek County Park

Located in Southwest, Michigan, one of the largest and an incredibly beautiful equestrian campground, Silver Creek campground and day staging area can be found at 3900 134th Avenue in Hamilton. Within this Allegan County Park, 6 miles of wooded trails wind closely through and around the campground. Adjacent to the park is the Allegan State Game area which has additional equestrian trails adding up to about 30 miles of trails in total. Further west, within the Allegan State Game area, are an additional 30 miles of horse trails near Ely Lake, Pine Point and Littlejohn areas with camping available at Ely Lake.

The Silver Creek campground has 77 wooded sites of large, old growth trees providing for sizable, private sites. Sites include picket poles, fire rings and picnic tables. Attached is a map of the campground to help you choose a site suitable for your rig. Hand pumps, vault toilets and dumpsters are located throughout the campground. The day staging area can be found within the campground with a pavilion nearby. And Silver Creek runs through camp, but please stay only in the sandy area and out of the brush, as there are sink holes your horse can get stuck in.

The 6 miles of the Silver Creek County Park trails are open year-round. Trails within the State Game Area allow hunting and are closed for deer firearm season. The gorgeous heavily wooded single-track and two-track trails in this area twist and turn through mildly rolling sandy hills and open into prairies at times. Sandy, open county roads make up part of the trail system. The trails and footing are easy on horses and hooves. A beautiful adventure can be had here at any time of the year, and in the fall, the colorful leaves lining your path. Don’t miss the early morning sun shining through yellow oaks leaves during the cool fall mornings. This Southwest Michigan campground and trail system are a true equestrian treasure.

The trails are maintained by the Friends of the Allegan Country Equestrian Trails System (F.A.C.E.T.S.) and we thank them for their work throughout Allegan County. Follow them on their Facebook group linked below and please help them out in Allegan County if you are able to.
